It dates from the latter half of the 19th century, Birmingham hallmarks confirm the year as 1882 and the metal as sterling silver. It also features a "kitemark" a diamond shaped Design Registration Mark used between 1842 and 1883 indicating that the design was first registered in November 1882. Quite the curiosity.
