It features 6 panels of delicately carved bull's mouth shell depicting the Flora, the Roman goddess of youth, fertility, flowers and spring (her Greek counterpart being Chloris). The cameos are set in simple bezel mounts made from guilt metal. In ancient Rome, the festival of Floralia was held between the 28th April and 3rd May, in honour of it's name sake
