There, Patrick's faith grew. He prayed in the woods and on the mountains, day and night. After returning to Scotland, Patrick became a priest and a bishop. God then called him to preach the Gospel in Ireland. Patrick converted thousands, performed many miracles, and popularly used the shamrock to explain the Trinity. Feast Day: March 17
