It is sort of made in a way like it is for traveling or camping. The crank is removable and stores in the bottom. To use, you open the top cap and fill it up, close it, install the handle and grind. The ground up coffee falls into the bottom cup. It sort of acts as a transport container as well as a grinder. You could prefill the top with coffee beans and
