علاوہ ازیں شب برأت کی حجیت اس بات سے بھی ثابت ہوتی ہے کہ شروع سے ہی صحابہ کرام رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین ، تابعین، اَتباع تابعین اور تمام اَئمہ حدیث، بشمول ائمہ صحاح ستہ اکثر نے شبِ برأت کا تذکرہ کیا ہے اور اپنی کتب حدیث میں ’بَابُ مَا جَائَ فِي لَیْلَۃِ النِّصْفِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ‘ یعنی شعبان کی پندرہویں رات کے عنوان سے مستقل ابواب بھی قائم کیے ہیں۔
